2nd November 2025:  The Erasmus mobility in Poland started today with the departure from Bari airport at 16:20, after the meeting with the teachers and the classmates. During the flight there was a way to get to know each other better and to overcome the anxiety of the first flight. Once  in Krakow “John Paul II”, we got to the hotel in the old town from where we moved for dinner in a fast food nearby. We had the chance to use English and to learn some first useful Polish words.  The first impressions of the city are positive and the group is excited about the experiences that await them.

3rd November 2025:  After breakfast in the hotel in perfect Polish style, we moved to Rynek Glowny, where we met the students and the Erasmus project leader of the Polish school. We visited the grand St. Mary’s Cathedral. Due to heavy rain, we took shelter in a cafeteria where we tasted typical desserts. Next we reached the Reinassance Wawel Castle, Unesco Heritage, where we could admire the Royal rooms and several paintings, many of them by Italian and Flemish artists, which has made the visit more and more interesting. We had a delicious pizza in a restaurant in the old town and took the train to Bochnia; got to the hotel we settled into our rooms for the night.

4th November 2025:  This morning, after breakfast, we took a bus and arrived at school. Some of the Polish students gave us a warm and festive welcome. In front of the two Italian delegations visiting the school, groups of students from different grades performed songs, dances, and traditional stories. After institutional greetings and in the presence of the headmaster and the municipal councilor for Education, we went into the classrooms where we presented our city and school through a digital work. After that, They the Polish friends introduced us to traditional dishes like rosoł, żurek, pierogi ruskie, bigos, szarloctka, and sernik. We had an awesome music lesson using the instrumental accumulation method. We had lunch in the school canteen with traditional Polish food. Afterwards, we headed to the salt mine in Bochnia, where the guide told us about the history of the salt mine by projecting pictures and videos. After three-hour- visit , we came back to the hotel for dinner.

5th November 2025:  Travel Diary – Erasmus Poland  – Auschwitz and Birkenau

It has been a very intense and emotional day.  We visited the concentration camps of Auschwitz and Birkenau, symbolic places of the tragedy of the Holocaust. During the guided tour, we walked in silence among the blocks, barracks, barbed wire, and railway tracks, listening carefully to the stories of those who suffered and lost everything in those places. We saw up close personal belongings of the victims, photographs, documents, and rooms used for torture. Every detail deeply moved us.   It was a powerful experience that made us reflect on the value of memory, on the cruelty that human beings are capable of, and on the importance of never forgetting what happened.

6th November 2025: This morning, after breakfast, we took a bus and arrived at school. The kids welcomed us with songs, dances, and traditional stories, and took us to the classrooms where we showed our presentation and listened to theirs. They introduced us to traditional dishes like rosoł, żurek, pierogi ruskie, bigos, szarloctka, and sernik. We had an awesome music lesson, playing together, followed by lunch in the cafeteria with traditional Polish food. Afterward, we headed to the salt mines in Bochnia, where the guide explained the history with projected images. Finally, we headed to the hotel.

7th November 2025: Friday, November 7th -Last Day

In our last day of our stay in Bochnia, after having breakfast in the hotel, we headed to school by bus. It was a special day, Independence Day in Poland, and there were celebrations at school.  we attended a lesson about the legend of the Wawel Dragon in Kraków. Next, we took part in a science class where we conducted experiments using various substances like milk, vinegar measuring PH. The final lesson focused on emotions and how to manage them.

After the activities, we went to the canteen and enjoyed traditional Polish dishes for lunch. Before leaving the school they held the certificate and farewell cerimony which put an end to the mobility.
